Relocation of vegetation from the Traðarreitur west plot
Currently, the Kópavogur Town Horticulture Department is finishing the relocation of vegetation from the Traðarreitur vestri area, primarily from Neðstatröð 4 and Vallartröð 1. This involves a large number of species of trees, shrubs, and perennials that were considered suitable for a second life elsewhere in Kópavogur. Some of the plants have already been placed in an open area in the northeast corner of the Lundarhverfi neighborhood, in Kópavogsdalur, and in the Tree Collection (Trjásafnið) in Meltunga, in the easternmost part of Fossvogsdalur. There are also plans to use a large portion of the plants in planting beds, which will hopefully be created later this year along Borgarholtsbraut, in the so-called Cultural Hub (Menningarmiðja) west of the library. This is a continuation of a project started last year aimed at making this area greener and more sheltered. Last year, vegetation that had to "escape" construction in the Fannborgarreitur and Geislagarður areas was relocated there.
