Groundworks on the Fannborg Plot

At the turn of the month August/September, earthworks will begin at the Fannborg site.

During the first week, work will involve shoveling soil off the bedrock. This work will take three to four weeks. Alongside the excavation, work will be done to relocate existing pipes and cables (sewage, drinking water, and electrical cables) outside the plot.

After the soil excavation, blasting will begin, as previously stated at the information meeting on earthworks.

Before blasting begins, the contractor Mannverk will install vibration monitors on the nearest buildings. The contractor will also submit data on the blasting to the Municipality of Kópavogur daily for information.

The goal is to have four to six blasts per day. Initially, however, there will be fewer blasts. Each time, a warning siren will sound for one minute before blasting.
